Next comes the selection of the amount of silk fill. This weight means the amount of silk inside the blanket and is important for a couple of reasons. First, it determines how warm the blanket will be. This is extremely important for the different months of the year. If you do not have enough silk in the blanket, then you will get cold in winter and be just right in summer. And vice versa with too much silk filling in the blanket. Silk blankets are much better at retaining body heat, thus a silk comforter will not be as heavy as a down comforter for the same temperature. On average, you want about 4-6 pounds of silk fill for winter and between 1-3 pounds for summer. A good all around weight is 3 pounds for most regions.
Homeowners need not worry about the sizes kids and teen comforters come in. There are twin comforters, king comforters and queen comforters with designs fitting for teens and youngsters. There are also sizes other than the standard ones such as oversized twin, king and queen as well as those fitting for daybeds. Even if the comforter set is not intended for the master's bedroom, it does not mean that quality should be compromised. High quality sheets such as those with 400 or higher thread count would mean breathability of the linen. It would also reduce dust mites and other allergens. High quality comforters would also feel softer than discount comforters.
