The following advice has largely dealt with table lamps but what if you want to install a hanging lamp or chandelier, say, in your dining room? Make sure that, whichever style you select, the lamp itself hangs two feet or more above your dining room table or other surface. The last thing you want is your guests to be distracted by a bright beacon during dinner.
For table lamps, people need to measure the table height and circumference. The lamp should not be more than one and a half times the height of the furnishing it sits on and the lampshade should not overlap the table. Consider the weight of the lamp. Lighter is better for less-travelled spots while heavier and stable is better for high traffic areas and small children.
For instance, as a general rule of thumb it's better to have bulky lamps in areas that receive high-traffic or have kids and pets running around. This is because the heavier the lamp the less prone it is to topple over and smash into a million pieces.
Lamps are commonly utilized for enhancing the aesthetic appeal of a room. You should first consider the room for which you need lamps. Try to opt for lamps that match well with the color theme and the furnishings of the room. Determine the light strength that you require while choosing lamps. Decide whether you need it for functional lighting or just for simple accent lighting. According to your purpose, you can select either table lamps, or desk lamps or other varieties. This is not all, as you should also notice the material of the lamp you are buying. You can choose from among material options like glass, crystal, metal or wood.
